thanks, so besides just finding and grinding other relevant links there is no way to enhance the process?

If you buy smart, I think it's a good idea. For example, a Yahoo link can make a lot of sense (if you're a hobby site with no profit motive, maybe not). It's reasonably pricey but helps a lot with boosting the PR of your site.

If you buy links, just buy ones on themed pages from good quality (high PR) sites.

Also try and buy from older sites that don't have too many one way links per page.

diamongrl, are you sure that yahoo directory links pass pr? I have no clue myself, but someone in a thread once said they had reason to think that pr was not being passed.

...are you sure that yahoo directory links pass pr?

The main directory may not be passing link popularity, or else a deprecated link popularity. Nevertheless, the international versions of the Yahoo directory absolutely do pass link pop. So if you're concerned about PR, by all means go for the Yahoo directory.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY OLDER SITES

Websites that have been around for years. I got one from a website that has been around for over 3 years and just started selling advertising, saw the effects in a matter of weeks.

I bought one from a PR8 and got no benefit from G. I think I may have from Y. I'm going to give it another month.

how do you find such sites, that has been my problem? and would you say that purchasing a few higher pr links is better than acquiring alot of low pr links for free?

how do you find such sites, that has been my problem?

People who run "hobby" sites and aren't selling anything are one really great source for buying this kind of advertising link. You can usually get it if you offer a little more than hosting. Helps even more if they aren't running adsense, or some other banner program. This means the site has no existing revenue stream.

For example if you are selling widgets, try to find people who collect old widgets and show their collection on their websites. Clubs are another great option they usually operate on a shoestring budget and really appreciate having a sponsor.
