Random footer links to inner pages

A good idea or a no-no?

Hello!

I have an online store with more than 3000 products. Each main category is divided into subcategories and the products are in those subs (so i have 4 levels on my website). Now, i would like to increase the number of links to my product pages and spread the PR over to them.

I thought about adding 3 or 4 links in the footer pointing to random products pages. But then every time a bot would visit a page there would be different links at the bottom. Is it a bad idea to do so or is it ok - what do you think?

I think it sounds like a good idea as long as you don't go overboard. Search engines don't like it if you do a lot of cross-linking, but I see lots of stores that list a product, then say if you're interested in this, you might also be interested in this, this, and this (with links to the other product pages).
