My site link directory is xyz.com/links/index.php
so, is it not benifitial to other site who exchange links with my site.
As per new linking stratagy if exchange link only with related site, than how link exchange will benifit both. As may be possible both site optimise for same keywords.
Kindly help me, I am confused.
Thanks for any help.

There are two opposite sides regarding this issue, those who believe it is bad and those who don't. I'm the latter.
Some people believe that the word "link" is a poison word and SE would either ignore or discount it...This has become more widespread when there was a time that G rarely displayed file name links.*** as backlinks some months ago...That incidence just strengthen the belief until this day.
IMHO, it is a paranoid and it is hard to convince the people that link.*** is not bad.
I figure why take the chance. If I was Google and wanted to discount reciprocal links in the future, I would target these terms.
Therefore, I just decide to play it on the safe side and avoid the term "Links".
If your link directory is about dogs, call it /canine-resources/... if it's about health and wellness, call it /health-wellness/...
