Hello all,

Let's say I have 5 websites that are all relevant. I want 4 of the sites to link to one main site. Is it a bad idea to put the main website's url on all the pages of the websites that will be pointing to the main site? Or create a resource page and put the url in that page?

It helps to differentiate all of your websites through backlinks. Otherwise you risk creating an interlinked chain that can cause you grief.

The other 4 sites already have backlinks and they will not link between themselves, they will only link to that one main site.

The question is, will having the main site url on all the pages of the other sites have a negative effect?

I'm not an expert but I wouldn't think so. Isn't this basically the same thing that many web design companies and free scripts do, they have a link on the pages they designed or the pages produced by the script that links back to their main page.

Probably not, though I wouldn't do it, but I'm a bit of a Nervous Nellie as far as linkage patterns are concerned....;-)
