Hi all,

This is my first post but I've been around for some time and would like to thank you all for your great comments.

I have two questions and would very much appreciate your advice.

1. One of my clients with a 1000+ pages portal agreed to put a link to my site in the footer. About 50 pages have PR from 2 to 5 and the rest are dinamic pages with PR0. Shall I place my link on every singe page or do it manually only on the pages with PR?

2. Lately I noticed that quite a few webmasters wouldn't exchange links with pages that have "links" or similar wording in the outbound URL. Can it really harm your PR?

Thanks again.

1. I would suggest manually selecting a handful of pages where you will put your link, and manually selecting the linking text. Then watch and see what happens. Revisit the issue again a while later (next month or two months?) and decide if you want to add more.

It seems that an immediate addition of many identical backlinks does not carry nearly as much weight as slowly-added, variable anchor text backlinks, and may even cause you to cross some threshold whereby the backlinks get "held" by Google for a while before they can pass PR (refered to as 'sandboxing").

2. I don't think people were saying that appearing in links.html would *hurt* your PR.. I think they were saying they felt that links.* pages were being ignored with respect to PR pass thru. Unproven but widely suggested, and also reported to have changed again.
