I look at crosslinking as taking a number of websites and literally crosslinking a lot of links from one to the other..

But what about when you have say 1 major website and 5 smaller websites , the major website already has a fair amount of incoming links ..your smaler websites do not.

Any problem (SE wise) about linking to them from your major website ..not crosslinking amoungst them all ..just website "A" to b,c,d,e,f..

something like ...thank you for visting website "A" we invite you to our sister companies B,C,D,E,and F

I am asuming that is not a problem ..that the problem would arise if we start adding the same message across all the websites ..then the actual cross linking begins..in the eye's of the se ..

correct?

No penalty here. Not a bad idea for clean sites. Not necessarily a good idea either because you would be flagging your sites so that the search engines would know that these five sites are all related. Also if you have the 5 sites hosted on the same ip, that is another tip for the search engines to group them together.

goodroi your conmfusing me..is it a good idea or bad idea ..lol

Yes Clean sites

If it's a good idea why do I care if the se's know they are on the same server?
