This is not true! What should I do?

I have been getting emails from my link partners who use Links Manager software telling me that my link on their site has been removed because I am not linking back.

This is not true. I have not touched their links.

What should I do in this situation? Some have trouble believing that Links Manager could be making mistakes. Others don't want to bother with the issue.

Links Manager is not being helpful.

I feel that my reputation has been attacked and I have done nothing wrong.

Your advice would be appreciated.

Stay away from links manager and do it your self. It's better to have full control over your links then to be lazy and have them do it for you. Also it's price is to much for what they give you.

You misunderstood my post. I do not use Links Manager. Rather, I have some links partners who do use Links Manager on their sites.

Links Manager is sending them false messages to the effect that I am not reciprocating their link. That's the issue.

If you are linking with folks that are using links manager, then maybe rethink who you are linking too.

My understanding is that if a site has well organized, topical links pages that have decent page ranks then it is just fine to link with them...even if they use Links Manager.

Are you saying that Google punishes sites that run legitimate links program using Links Manager? If so, then I should not link to them. I've just never heard this argument before. Is it true?

No one said that, I don't think they do.

You should go for traffic not PageRank. Search engine won't send you all the traffic that you might think.

Robotsdobetter, I don't know if there's a specific risk factor from linking to sites using Linksmanager. However, we do know that Google doesn't like any automated link schemes. While you are mostly protected from inbound links from penalized sites, as soon as you link back you make yourself a participant in whatever they have going on. So, it's wise to be cautious with your outbound links.

You may also check whether your HTML code is correct in syntax. Even it can display in IE, it doesn't mean it is ok because IE will automatically fix some syntax error.

Links manager or other software is a program and they can check a link if the syntax is correct.

For others:

I don't think using linksmanager will make you being penalized. Google only punish those who are trying to spam and manipulate search engine ranking. linksmaanger and many other script like linkautomate is a just tool to organize and generate web pages. If they should be punish, all HTML editors should be punished because they can also help you build a web page showing reciprocal links.

Indeed, Google only punishes spammers/manipulators,e.g. if you buy 100 domains, and then cross link them, you can be punished by Google because you are trying to "vote" for yourself. However, I learnt that Google cannot punish all the cases because some manipulators are very clever.
