What I would like to know is what percentage of your emails are even answered? Lots of webmasters seem "dead" as far as their sites are concerned.
Those webmasters that are active I'm getting about a 20% conversion - i.e. a mutual link exchange?
Just curious.
But I did send the emails one by one and try to address the webmaster him/herself by his/her name.
My conversion rate, .. 20 % so far :-)
Maybe back in the 90's link requests via email worked.....
But these days, they end up looking like spam, sounding like spam, and just generally being spam
I write a very personal email to each webmaster, not a "canned template", so if that is seen as spam can you suggest other ways to get links?
I don't want a linksmanager type program but would be very interested in how you are gathering your links.
thanks
If I were to send out 100 emails looking for links, I would be aiming for roughly 100 links back. Not everybody I email will aggree to the links exchange, but very often you will find yourself getting an email back from somebody who owns a number of sites.
This makes up for the lack of replys from some webmasters.
