I am seeing Google update my PR att...(I cut over to a new directory, post update all category pages had PR0).
Now what I see is all category pages that have reciprocation have PR. (This is not reciprocation to the link page itself, just acknowledgement from me that these links are a link partner pointing to my home page), all other pages in my directory that is still information rich but does not contain any link partners have still got PR0.
This is evidence for me that reciprocal links are still working if they are managed correctly and are edited, reviewed and added by a human Google are still adding PR to them.
Has anyone else seen this pattern?
I'd find this pattern quite odd. The PR flow to the pages in the link directory should be determined by the links to those pages. Since your new directory pages probably have no external links, your internal site navigation should determine the PR of these pages. I can't really see how the reciprocal status of links on some pages would end up improving the PR of those pages (unless the recip went back to the link page). And Google's algo has no way of determining which links were "edited, reviewed and added by a human", although they might look at the density of link text vs other content as one measure of link quality.
It's remotely possible that one or more of your recips created a link to their category page on their site or even another site; I've seen people do that hoping that it will boost PR. It seems unlikely that many of your link parters would adopt this strategy at the same time, though.
I'd look for other explanations for the phemenon you are experiencing, although with Google's recent changes I wouldn't discount any possibilities.
