Has anyone had any experience with Links Manager? Since this last update in google i've noticed sites who are in links manager, have exchange hundreds of links with other members. many of these sites now totally dominate in some area's, does anyone here have experience with them?

So far I cannot see any evidence of being penalized by using it, even when exchanging links with sites from different categories.

While link farms might help you for short periods of time, they will definitely hurt you in the long run (or when they get caught).

I've found that sites using linkmanager are often

1. New sites with little or no traffic
2. Spammy sites
3. Dodgy sites who won't give you a link from their site but from a page they have on the linksmanager site!
4. Sites who'll link to you from within javascript
5. Sites who'll link to you from pages that are blocked with robots.txt

etc.

Not all of them are bad but the sifting through linksmanager sites to pick out the goods ones has ceased being a profitable use of time.

Build your links the hard way and you won't regret it. Identify sites you like in your subject and related subject areas and approach them individually.

Despite Florida I doubt very much if they "dominate" in some areas that it has anything to do with linksmanager.

Agree with Macro.

Ive seen a few sites use the service - it just seems really tacky and in the most part, uncessary.

Why have your links section popup into a new window / site?

If you have the basic knowledge required to build a site, then at least make the additional bit of effort and stick on your own links page.

Why dont they? Well they have a basic knowledge of the impact of inbound links and want something for nothing (read: effort not money).

Chances are that the webmasters that use the service dont have the time or inclination to maintain / create a links section, which begs the question, "why do I want to use your site then?".

Will it hurt your rankings or PR? Dont know and dont really care.

Will it offer a bad impression to your users? Will it harm your sales conversion rate? Will it harm your repeat visit rate? IMO, probably yes.

Everybody knows it works. Question is till when? LinksManager would already have this question and they might havesomething in their head taking care of this.

But I feel, we should always stay away from FFA Links, Link Farms, Guestbook Links etc etc/

Remember the eggs and the baskets?

Do anything that won't penalize your site, but never rely only on one sort of campaign. This update has taught a tough lesson.

I was new to SEO this past summer and used the linksmanager service. I got to the top of a money keyword but got nixed with Florida.

I have links from over 200 sites.. hardly any related. I'm regretting not doing links the right way now. I have since removed my site from their directories, deleted my recipricol link pages and canceled my subscription.
