If anchor text weights so much , then what do with new pages?

I did a google search for a few keywords for which I created new pages with on-the-page optimized content. Anyways, my pages are ranked very very low (like page 20 and worse). The top pages in a search have hundreds less backlinks than my home page does. But their backlinks have the keyword in anchor text.

So, how is it possible to build one page of content a day, yet still find the time to get backlinks to the new pages with the anchor text? Our backlinks naturally have our organization's name in the anchor text. I can't imagine getting hundreds of new backlinks with anchor text unique to each new page's keywords for each page I build everyday.

Any insight is helpful as I am still quite new to this.

An internal link from your site is a link, and you have total control over its achor text :)

Very few (if any) of your competitors are likely to have many external links to every internal page.

With each section page that has links to a list of pages in your site, ask the external sites to link into that page.
