As many of you know we’ve recently started a pilot of MSN’s new search advertising product, MSN adCenter, in the US. I’m writing today on behalf of the adCenter Product Management team to reach out to the WebmasterWorld community so that we can get your feedback on how we’re doing and what you’d ideally like to see from us during the pilot and after launch. Specifically, we’re looking at how we can offer a set of compelling services to our self-service advertisers. Do you want campaign optimization? A quick migration tool? What about an ad certification program? If you were to name the top 5 services you could have, what would they be? Let us know! We’ll be reading this thread.
We’d also like to meet with you. If you are willing to chat with a member of our team – sticky mail us and we’ll set something up.
If you are interested in participating in the pilot, please sign-up here (this link is exclusive to WebmasterWorld and referrals will be closely reviewed :):

Cheers,
The MSN adCenter Team
Migration tools are useful; as is allowing an advertiser to do a bulk upload and export without a rep.
Top aesthetic request: Fix all the side scrolling framing issues in the current system.
Top operation requests:
1. Made the {params} editable.
2. Allow order names to be editable.
I think - having seen this post up for 48 hours now - that you should go back to the guys vetting the beta testers and suggest they change the people they are putting on the beta test.
It seems people here are waiting on MSN to push a button so they can see the system for themselves.

a)If you setup a campaign around midnight you get into a loop with start dates "your start date cannot be earlier than today".
b)When you import keywords from the tool the tool does not remove duplicates and you have to delete them yourself.
c)Using scrollbars is not friendly.
d)There is no reason why the keyword is rejected.
c)I get logged out of the interface very often.
Here is what I am doing.
The destination url field of my Ad is only "{param1}"
For all my keywords the Parameter 1 field is the full dynamic destination url. This works correctly as when I occasionally see one of my keywords show up on MSN search (before they keywords are reviewed) I can click and get the proper destination.
I'm wondering if the editorial team's interface or adCenter's automated link checking bot correctly assembles the destination url links.
I'm getting some clicks (as reported by MSN and my own logs), but I am curious: I have yet to see my ad show up on an MSN search. When I search for my keywords, only Yahoo Search Marketing (Overture) words. I even raised my bid on MSN to a higher value than any of the Overture bids, but my ad does not show. It must show (very) occasionally, but I can't figure out why or when.
A representative from MSN called today and I mentioned this, but he couldn't figure it out either. It's a mystery.
Have your Overture ads been in first place? If not, then the other advertisers are outbidding both your accounts.
Keep in mind that they said they will not mix O results and MSN results on the same page, so it is one or the other that will be shown.
I would assume it is cookies doing it, and I am not sure if it is per search, or per user...so I would check my keyword, if it appears WOOHOO, if not clear cookies/cache, restart browser try again.
Also make sure you are not logged in to MSN messanger because I am guessing that could cause problems/cookies as well.
I think it shouldn't matter which way you do it. The end result is still the same destination url. Must be some bug in their system.
btw. I see my ads showing up correctly in MSN search. After they are approved there seemed to be an hour or two delay before I saw them.
- When I attempted to upload a keyword list, I was told to upload a CSV or Excel file even though it was that format. Closing the file in excel solved this issue and I was able to upload.
- I was able to easily create a new account under my login (great feature btw), however, it defaulted to Euro currency and I was unable to switch it back to the dollar. Oops! I ended up deleting that account and creating a new one, but I was not able to create it under the same name. It also still appears as an account even after deleting it.
- Having JavaScript links prevents a user from navigating the site with multiple tabs or opening a new window. As far as tabs go, I guess this is a non-issue as you need IE in order to use adCenter, but sometimes you would like to refer to another order for linking information, copy etc.
- The parameters feature is fantastic. You can't imagine how easy it was to use this feature for developing ad creative and landing page strategy. *Bravo*
- The ability to apply negative keywords needs to be improved greatly. Why not allow users to have a big text box to dump negatives in rather than in a line-by-line fashion?
That’s it my observations. I'm sure I'll have some more soon!
My number one wish list item is that if you are importing keywords and there are duplicates - just drop the dupes. It's painful trying to import keywords from our G and Y accounts.Or, better yet, if there was a way to import a G account directly into adCenter....
I keep a local copy on my server of all the keywords that my company uses. And filter dupes, might be a good way to go for anyone having this problem. This way, you know where your keywords are, and they are in ONE place. No digging into Adgroups to pull 5k keywords at a time, or 2k for manual uploads in Adwords. So far it works wonders as far as knowing what you have and what you don't.
It's almost like they are only taking a sampling of the keywords in my account and ignoring the rest.
