Today, The Yellow Pages Association with partners SEMPO and the Kelsey Group announced the launch of the "Local Search Guide" - An informational reference guide to local search advertising.

This looks like just a directory of who's doing local search, with some editorializing where they pat each other on the back.

I was hoping for the yellow page companies leveraging their databases for a real, powerful localized search. Still hoping....

Okay...perhaps a little bit off topic and picky, but how can an organization of "industry leaders" be involved with a site that uses the TLD url as the title of every page?

Stuntdubl, I noticed that too. Odd to have SEMPO associated with that.

The Local Search Guide seems sort of like a "Local Search for Dummies" thing - not a bad introduction, but not interesting to folks who are actually in the industry.

Good for them that they can get an article written about it.

I checked out their list of Local SE's and IYP's and it seems to be missing companies in both categories. Can anyone point out a site that has a more complete list of local SE's and IYP providers? Both fully launched and possibly those in beta form?

It is a nice site that answers alot of questions I had about who powers whom, partners etc.. Even they don't know who feeds Google local. Any guesses?
