I'm running MS Windows XP Professional. I use Microsoft Outlook 2003 SP1.

It's become an ANNOYING problem that I just deal with, but it never used to happen until, maybe less than a year ago.

When I click on any link in an e-mail, the link opens the Internet window, but a "Locate Link Browser" box pops up over the open e-mail message, as if I want to browse my local system to find a file.

I have AVG antivirus that runs regularly on my system and it scans the entire computer system every day, when it finds a virus it notifies me immediately. I also keep up to date on MS updates, etc.

This is a minor problem, but very irritating and never used to happen. Anyone ever hear of it?

Here's a link to a list of topics with "locate link browser" in their subjects or bodies: [google.com...]

There's probably something in one of those posts/threads that will help you....

[Mods - I hope that link doesn't cause sidescroll problems!]

I had the same problem (XP, OfficeXP, Firefox 0.9), and it is fine now, since I removed the checkbox "Use DDE" in Folder Options -> File Types -> URL:Hyper Text Transfer Protocol -> Advanced -> Edit "open".

And also for URL:Hyper Text Transfer Protocol with Privacy.

But I have no idea at all what DDE means, so do it at your own risk. There was just sth about IE in the DDE settings that made me suspicious :o) - and it worked.

THANK YOU vkaryl! I found the answer and fixed the problem in the forum link you provided! :-)
