We recently bought a new XP Pro SP2 computer and for the life of me I can't figure out this problem.

The two best examples are that I no longer can see the bar charts in my WebTrends reports - just the empty image box. Also the running clock and animate feature at the NOAA weather maps page don't work. It must have something to do with JAVA? How do I get them working again?

You need to install the Java runtime environment.Try this:

Tried that - wouldn't auto load on SP2. Said something about trying a manual download. Do you know if this has any negative effects on SP2.

We have all the latest & best hardware and 1 GB of ram - issue seems to be SP2.

Thanks

Here's the error message:

Just click on the manual download option and then install the downloaded file.

I know of no compatibility problems between Java and SP2 - but the increased security setting of SP2 may be what is blocking the automatic installation.

Encyclo, thanks a ton for your help.

What was happening was that the active x part was being blocked by SP2.

A bar popped up under my Google search bar and I didn't see it. All I had to do was click it and the JVM was downloaded.

Just a word of advice to anyone else. It may not be a bad idea to temporarily pause your antivirus while installing. We use Norton 2004 and it took more than 20 minutes to install while Norton inspected it all.
