Works great on two other computers, but nothing I do including deleting and reinstalling the network card drivers, the router setup software and the SBC DSL Broadjump software has done anything at all.
I've checked 10 times and TC/IP is configured to expect a router assigned address. I can connect between computers if I assign a static IP but then not to the internet.
Any thoughts why the router is not assigning an IP? Or Windows not requesting one?
1 option that works well if it's win98 or above is remove the card, boot up, then shut down the machine normally, then reinstall the card and see if the OS picks it up, and give you an IP.
Ad-aware found 100's of nasty registry entries and dll's. Deleting these removed some OS needed entries and dll's. Bummer.
Deleting the winsock and winsock2 keys, then reinstalling tcp/ip fixed the bugger.
My best guess is that one of the 7 ad networks that somehow my daughter installed (like Gain) created the problem.
Thanks for the stickies and posts,
Jon
