Cant download anything

Hard drive crash reinstall windows xp

my hard drive crashed replaced did all the setup utilities reinstalled windows xp pro and now i can surf the web but i cannot download anything such as aim msn messenger or pictures can someone help me

I am guessing that you are connected to the internet when you attempt to download stuff? You may want to check other software on your computer that may not let you download stuff because of other software on your system and you tell it that you can. You would have to be more specific in this case.

Tried disabling the xp firewall? Setting browser to medium security?
Just guesses, I dont even know if these would cause this problem but surely not a bad place to start, though I appreciate you probably already have.

all internet explorer setting are at low all should be allowing all downloads no other software installed just internet explorer. maybe a regsitry problem anyone know which one might need to be edited?
