As part of my bakup strategy, I use a Windows Briefcase (XP) to sync the backup files between my local drive and an external harddrive.
My backup file is about 9GB, but I noticed in the Briefcase that the size for all my large backups is marked as 4,164,304. This leads me to believe that their is a limitation in the briefcase.
However, when I look at the properties of the briefcase, the total file size is much greater.
Is there a file size limitation, or just a bug in the file size label?
Thanks!
Erik
PS I'm using NTFS
PPS If you can suggest a better way of handling this backup setup, I'm all ears. This is just something I came up with so that I can take my external offsite and still have automatic nightly backups. I'm using the Windows backup tool (.bkf files)
You may want to try asking Microsoft directly about this one. From their Support page [support.microsoft.com] head over to their Support Services area. You can often get free e-mail, chat or phone help depending on the product.
Also, please report back if they can help. I'd be interested to know after all this looking about. ;)
Haven't heard anything yet though... :-(
