search results & access privileges

Hi all,

sorry didn't know where to post this so thought I would try here..

Does anyone know if it's possible to modify results of an intranet search based on user access privileges on an AD domain? Some documents on our intranet are confidential - so I would like these not to show up in any searches performed by "normal" users.

What would they be using to do the search? If it were a web search different tools can be customized to specify results.
