I run at home a Win 2003 Server with IIS6 and have several domains online. For some reason my log file is showing many 416 http errors and for the web page visitors these errors are missing pictures on my web pages - on a random basis. Browser reload sometime makes the pictures apper, sometimes the oppisite pictures are disapper.... and the none shown does show... all together, very enoying...
My server is set up on a DSL modem 645 Series and behind a Motoroler WR850G router.
What am I missing?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld FrankFlorida.

HTTP Error 416
Requested Range Not Satisfiable. The portion of the resource requested is not available or out of range.

This error happens when a file request is split into several parts. This isn't a very common error from the looks of it. Anyone have experience with this one?

Just to answer my own question:
The problem was in ISS6 - there I had used 'Enable document footer' and pointing to a small .html file for an small ad/banner on the bottom of each .html page.
So far that worked, but having this function enabled caused the strange html 416 error on random and randomly missing pictures. The use of 'Enable document footer' causes a "BUG" in IIS6. At least taken the footer off solved my problem.

Thanks for the follow up FrankFlorida. Glad you got things sorted out. Is this a documented bug in IIS6?
