I have a DSL modem.
I already tried once and was able to the 98 (before xp) and win me to see each other. But could not get the third one to be seen. Also then it seemed that maybe I was being hacked by someone or something. My firewalls were going crazy and then things just went bad. I'm in the process of restoring all the computers. I also upgraded this one to xp.
I used the disk that came with linksys to setup the router. Some how I don't think I did enough. I'm not sure about all these IP setting and if I'm suppose to do them? I thought I was suppose to let it be set at auto?
Before I hook to the router again and the other two computers I want to make sure I do it right and be safe online. Need your Help!
One thing you should consider is the inherit security flaws with win 98 and ME. You should have a strong firewall before you turn those loose on the internet.
Another thing you should do is network them all together, turn them on and let them run for a day or so. Windows machines elect a "master" on the network. Sometimes this takes a while when working with different Win OS deployments. Usually all the computers will show up in the network neighborhood after about a day at the most. This is, of course, dependant on if you have all the right configurations on the machines (IPs, file sharing, print sharing if you want, etc.)
