Just when you thought that every blog that could be launched already had been launched... the BBC is getting into blogging: [news.bbc.co.uk...]
Their new blog is called "The Editors", and is apparently supposed to be a sort of interactive "letters to the editor" feature.

No one wants to be left behind in this race. In India even the consumer brands are entering into blogging and asking girls to create blogs. Even there is a forum available for girls. I see advertisement in between regular soaps about these blogs. Though the penetration in India is not that great but still a good start for a long race.

Excuse me Mr. Editor, what does "public relations exercise" mean?

Interesting ... I take the point about it being a public relations exercise, but I think it depends how it's used? In addition to my parenting forum, I work for a big South African news website and am charged with sorting out (very belatedly) its interactive strategy - and the BBC blog looks to me like a good way to talk to your audience. But eventual success would depend on how honest you really were, no? And how prepared you are to take on criticism. If you were really being honest and listening, then over time readers would see it as more than a public relations exercise?
