Where to put your forum

IF you want your community to have a front end for different things, where should you put your forum?

Spawn in a new window? Spawn in the same window?

Or wrap it into your front end so the never really leave that area.

also does anyone have a pref for
[forums.example.com...]
or www.example.com/forum

Both the subdomain and folder approach have their advocates - in the long run, it may not make much difference.

As far as your forum opening in a new window, I'd say it's most common to keep it in the same window as the rest of the site.
