Here's my problem . . .

I have a phpbb forum for mountain bikers and I want a listing of trails in the area. I want users to be able to post updates on the conditions on each trail. How would I go about this? Is there a mod for phpbb that I could use? Some sort of CMS?

thanks in advance!

LBmtB, I must be reading this wrong, because my first thought is, well, isn't that what a forum is structured for, that is, that users read a post and then reply?

I mean, I picture a category titled something like "Trail Reports" [okay it's late & I'm not at my most imaginitive ;-)] where the first thread is a sticky announcement by you that you'd appreciate members' updates and opinions, and then each trail is posted as a separate thread: the first post by you giving the basic info, and your members post their opinions in that thread.

Am I missing something important?

If you have a specific list of trails, you could create a forum for each one. If the number of trails would get unwieldy, you could create a forum for each region, state, or other category and then let members start threads for each new trail. (Or, you could start the threads yourself to get consistent spelling, etc.)

If you list posts in reverse order (newest on top), you'll always have the latest report in view.

This seems like a good candidate for an RSS feed. Timely trail reports are a great example of ifo where the RSS distribution model could shine.

So if you were to do it with forum (or other) software, built in RSS capability may be a consideration.
