I would like to convert this to something like:
http://www.example.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/f33.html (this is the output in the lofi version...I want this output for the hi-fi though!)
Is this easy to do with htaccess or too complicated? If it is easy, can someone just post a simple line of code that will do what I need. Thank you.

You need to be a member though, and alas they don't allow new registrations for some reason.
I was going to do the same, but the old URL's that are indexed in search engines still work and do not redirect to the new friendly URLs, so you will be risking a duplicate content penalty.
I was afraid of that. So here is my next question:
Is there any way to disable the lo-fi version?
vBulletin also has a lo-fi version too (I know becuase I have found the lo-fi versions on Google while doing searches), and I have seen forums, such as that convert the main forums urls into static html pages. So does this website also run the risk of a duplicate content penalty? I can't imagine because the name of the site is seo guy! But...who knows.
