Setting up a database (minibb)

I have downloaded a minibb forum and tried to install it - however, I have only copied it from the downloaded folder directly to the internet, and it says I have a database error.

I need to install a database it seems. The readme says the following:

Begin installation of miniBB is very simple. You need to create some database on your SQL server (f.e., "miniBB") with this command:

create database miniBB;

Then unpack your minibb zip package somewhere on your disk.

I feel really stupid, but I have no idea what that means, and how to go about setting up a database.

Someone please help me, I'm really struggling.

It sounds like you need to create a MySQL database. Assuming you are on shared hosting, check your hosting setup - you may have a control panel where you can create the database yourself. Sometimes, the hosting company has to do it for you. You should be able to find out what to do by reading the hosting company's support info.

Yep, Cpanel would be the place to look. :) Good luck!

I done it, I was up from 7am, through until 1am sorting out the forums. I've never had to do anything like this before.

Getting it all to look and work how I wanted was hard, all those minibb plugins can become quite frustrating.

Setting up a database wasn't hard at all once I worked it out.

Thank you all who helped, I really appretiate it.
