Hi Eterion

Dont Worry.....

If you are installing just phpbb into the main homepage of the website then
You have to upload your unzipped phpbb files in to the either

www
public_html

folders both of them are same

then you need to just run

install.php file after uploading all the files onto your website folder

Just complete the instructions and it will install phpbb in just 1 minutes

Do feel free to write here again incase you ae any doubt....many guys here are great techies

Best of luck with your project

I did just that, upload it into my ftp server. I even went as far as checking out the wonderful flash tutorial at the phpbb website, downloaded CuteFTP so I would be doing what looked like what their tutorial was doing and even then, when I pointed my browser to where the install.php file SHOULD have been, I get a HTTP 404 Not found error.
So I call up tech support, after he puts me on hold for 5 minutes, he says "hmm, theres something wrong with the way your account was set up. I'll have my engineering dept take a look. You should get a response within 24 to 48 hours".
Yay. Free time. (actually this last line is sarcasm. pure sarcasm.)

The install docs on PHPBB are actually pretty good, if you follow them carefully. Printing them out isn't a bad idea either.

One thing you need to know is your database connection settings - if you don't know what this means, then don't try to guess. You need to know the database type (eg MySQL 4?), host, username, password, databasename.

Then run install.php

Thanks all for your advice! I actually managed to install phpBB a couple of days ago after viewing their very informative FLASH tutorial guide.
