spiderable forum wanted

I need a forum for my new site and I want a neat, quick spiderable forum with url's like this:

site.com/forum3/1845.html

much like this forum!

And also, I want it to be pretty light on the code...so that a spider won't choke on 40k of tags for every page.

any suggestions?

I know I could just go down the mod_rewrite road but would prefer not to if an alternative already exists.

It sounds like you want a forum that creates static pages (since you don't want to rewrite dynamic URLs.) Discusware might do what you need. I think the newer versions add a fake query string to act as cache-busters, but that can be disabled to create clean URLs.

I'm sure there are some other solutions. MiniBB has been suggested here, but I'm not sure if the URLs are static out of the box.
