Don't put all your eggs in one BETA basket

Gmail is in beta, and I thought I'd post this here to see how seriously that is taken.

I forward all my email to my gmail account, as well as keep it on the pop server. I can't risk email going missing, can you?

Using cpanel to forward your email to 2 addresses/mailboxes is not too hard, just use a comma to seperate destination addresses/mailboxes.

This is actually a good idea. I absolutely take the notion of Beta seriously. My situation is slightly different, though. My primary email account is a "vanity" email account with NetIdentity.com. Since getting my Gmail account, I set up a "filter" on my Netidentity account to both forward all emails to my Gmail account as well as to move all received emails into my NetIdentity Inbox. That way, I get the "backup" security of my primary account and the cool benefits of Gmail Beta. The great thing is that all forwarded messages hit Gmail as though they were sent directly to Gmail (ie, the "from" is the original sender's address). I also have the "Reply to" setting in my Gmail account pointing to my NetIdentity email address. So far, I have had no issues.

I personally don't think that G risks of loosing data these days. It would be bad PR they couldn't use in the pre-IPO days. They also make backups in a dedicated DC or on tapes or whatever. But I'm pretty sure that the chance of G loosing any data is less than 0.1%
