(1) I am leaving the world of PC’s. I will be getting a new laptop next week!

(2) I have discovered several websites who have linked to me without my asking.

(3) I am revamping my entire website so that it validates correctly.

{{Drum Roll Please}}

(4) I will also be leaving the world of dial-up behind! Yes, bring out the fans for the folks who have passed out. I am ashamed to admit that I still have home dial-up. My father even has wireless access. How degrading is that! Dail-up has served me well throughout the past 15 years, but now we must depart. I bid them fairwell as I advance to wireless.

I am coming along in my “webmaster” apprenticeship.

I bet you will love your laptop. I can not tell you how the freedom feels to run to the local coffee shop and do a few hours of work.

Oooh, I live in coffee shops (Starbucks.) I can sit in these coffee shops inhaling their aroma and actually be inspired to work for hours. Looking forward to it!

I have the Verizon broadband access and that makes it really worth it. I also have just found that libraries are very nice too.

I originally bought the laptop so I could travel, but then I met my current "other half" and we have 3 dogs, so the traveling part does not happen that much. It is still really worth it.

No she's got it. Actually I could care less if I really tried, but I won't.

:-)

New toys are so much fun, good for you. Don't feel too bad, once you see a faster connection, you'll wind up despising dialup like a philandering ex-lover. "All those years, all the time I thought you were doing your best, that it wasn't your fault, it must be something I'm doing wrong, and now look! IT WAS YOU, IT WAS ALWAYS YOU! And I blamed myself! You b****rd!" :-D

Nope, she ain't got it - she just quoted the common, albeit incorrect, usage.

I used to think laptops were stupid. My thoughts had always been why pay more money for a less powerful machine. Now I'm on my second laptop and I'm sure I'll never own a desktop again. Even just the freedom to go to a different room in your house and work is priceless. A small change like that can help you make a productive day out of one that otherwise would not be.

I just got DSL about two weeks ago. My telephone company's service seems lacking and I have yet to iron all of that out, but the "always on" feature, the fact that the web is aways just seconds away, is great.

Wow, thanks Broadway, I don't feel like a total dial-up loser! Nice to know that others are making the transition to wireless as well.

To all the grammar experts. Let's not argue about my midnight ramblings. :-)

To all the grammar experts.

Haha, when we start talking about grammar, you'll know it.

But I get your drift; now, back on topic. :)

For mobility, can't beat a laptop. For horsepower, can't beat a properly configured desktop.

congrats truezeta, you'll love the laptop and you'll love the connection speed. your eyes will glaze and all that fun stuff ;)

>> I'm sure I'll never own a desktop again

guess you're not a gamer

last time I checked my vid card doesn't fit in a laptop and ram isn't so cheap

laptops are great when you are checking your email, desktops hold the real deal. My GF wants a laptop for normal use, I want one for travel, sure don't need one at home. They have 21" laptops, nah, thought not. What happens when I get my next screen, it will be bigger than 21 how will I carry that around with my laptop? hehe

laptops are great for travel and for sittin on the deck sometimes but not for real stuff. I prefer my desktop.

by the way, make sure you secure that wireless, don't want the neighbours downloading 'stuff' on your connection and sniffing your email and logins.

I prefer my living room furniture to a laptop any day, laptops are really uncomfortable to sleep on. ;)

Some people get careless with ergonomics when they purchase a laptop. Yeah it's luxurious to work at the beach, but you risk Carpal Tunnel from typing with your laptop propped on the tiki bar. Take the freedom in moderation and make sure you are proactive with shoudler/arm/wrist/hand/finger health.

take good care of your wrists. consider taking flax seed oil supplements daily.

Ann, do you entertain much? ;~) I love to lounge around and watch movies so that would be a hard choice for me!

Jatar_k, I do have mixed feelings about getting a laptop. I enjoy my desktop, and I think I will invest in another one eventually. But right now I need mobility so I have to go with the laptop. I will work on securing my connection, although my neighbors spend so much time stomping around, I don't know when they would have time to actually sit down on the computer and be QUIET!

Httpwebwitch, thanks for the heads up. You just reminded me that I need to start taking my other vitamins too.

I should have my new toy by Monday. Yippee!
