[spiegel.de...]

Unfortunately only in German but here a short summary:

A seven year old boy on his way to school wanted to test how cold it was by putting his tongue unto a lamppost. His tongue immediately froze to the lamppost and he could only be freed by the red cross with spilling hot water over his tongue. The boy was not hurt and was then sent to school.

So much trouble and not even a free day...

Once upon a time I was five and froze my tongue to a propane tank. A neighbour simply grabbed my head and yanked. The bright pink tongue skin was an 'attraction' until spring thaw.

Need I say that I am very wary of letting my tongue stray outside to play?

Hey, these things are always happening in Northern countries in winter. Elder children tell younger ones that metal is sweet when it is cold. Or just curiosity calls a child to check the fact. Every decent person was frozen to some metal part of playing ground with their tongue :)

Ow! ow! ouch ouch ouch ouch

oh that's horrible!

I knew one kid who licked a soccer goalpost and was stuck for a few minutes, but he got free before recess was over without intervention. I guess it wasn't cold enough.

very interesting stuff. :)
Maybe it's a reward from the god to the little boy for his curiosity.
Maybe this child will be a very bright man even great man when he grows up.

I've never had such an experience - the most I've been frozen to is an over-cold ice-lolly.
