As I take care of 92 year old late stage Alzheimer's relative... I've been wrapping the same sweater for a gift the last 4 years.. works great!
Although our darn cat can't be fooled...
she always expect a new mouse play toy.
That last about a week in excitement... than it's back to chasing rubber bands across the floor (the cat that is).
After reading an article about fancy stationary, I went to my printer and had some very nice letterhead and envelopes done up with everyone's name on them.
17 sets on high quality paper. If you know a printer and order early, it's not that expensive. About $500 for it all.
On another board we're having a "What the heck*" gift exchange. Every year you get this gift, you open it, and "what the heck? What where you thinking?" You display it around the house for a week or two so no one's feelings get hurt, and it winds up at the local Goodwill with the other WTH gifts.
So this year we're pairing off, the rules are you have to photograph yourself with the WTH, then send it to your chosen partner, and there has to be a recipient pic of them using the WTH. Sounds like fun.
I am the king of WTH gifts. One year my mom gave me a Rockin' Elmo (Sesame Street,) you press it's paw or belly or something and it wiggles around and plays a song.
I was 41.
WTH?
This year's is a pickled plastic dinosaur in a jar. My daughter thought it might look great in my laboratory. I don't have a laboratory. I don't even have a garage.
It would be great to start something like this here if anyone's interested but we'd have to figure out some neutral ground for everyone to display pics . . . and a mod would have to pair us off . . . lawman are you up for it? :-)
*It's not actually what the heck, use your imagination. :-)
One year when I was much younger I recieved a large box - being no more than 10 I was very excited by the size of it - and I was still naive to the previous gifts donated by Jo. Anyway I keenly unwrapped the box to reveal the contents - a brand new clock radio/stereo.
This 10 year old was soooo happy - my first gadget... But on unwrapping the present further, opening the box, imagine my disbelif and confusion to find... a punctured rugby ball.
The box was a rouse, abeit undeliberate, to break my little heart, no clock radio/stereo - just a mouldy, damp piece of leather - no more resembling an ovoid than a pancake.
She then kindly informed me that it had come over her hedge one day and thought I would like it.
That same Christmas when we stopped at Jo's house I couldn't help but notice the shiny clock radio/stereo sat next to her bed...
