Just got an awesome deal on a new computer

I needed to buy a new computer for one of my employees so I've been on the hunt for the last few days trying to find the best deal. It just needed it to be a basic computer for web surfing & word processing.

I ended up getting a Computer, 17in Monitor & printer. Regular price was $599.99. I got $300 in rebates which brings the total down to $299.99 plus a $40 instant online rebate and FREE shipping. The $40 instant rebate cancelled out the tax plus a few bucks extra. Just an awesome deal!

Yep, computers are so cheap nowadays and get sold at Grocery Supermarkets (in the UK - I assume elsewhere?) - it is just tempting sometimes to buy a PC with the baked beans when you see the prices on offer.

I haven't done that yet though :)

Dayo, I am typing this on a machine I bought in my local Aldi back in March this year.

Intel Pentium 4 processor 640 with HT Technology
3.2 GHz, 2 MB L2 Cache, 800 MHz FSB
1024 MB memory
DVD, CD ROM, read write, TV tuner, remote control and just about everything else you would need for £749.

I also bought an excellent 17" flat screen monitor. Stuck the lot in the trolley and gave them my credit card. Great deal!

Where I live they up the prices at Xmas ( which are already 35% higher than in the UK ..which is only 30kms over the water )..

Yes we do have Aldi's ..they are also at least 35% higher than you pay for the same machine ..

plus in the entire country wether in bricks and mortar or via the net you can only buy french language versions of doze or any other made for win app at 2 times Uk price ( wouldn't mind the french versions so much if their translations were better and didn't have to waste so much time working out what they should say )..

now buy all my stuff overseas and then customs spend their time trying to tell me it's pirated cos it's not in french ...grrrrr
