I dont, I didnt start out thinking I should get rid of it but moved into a house without decent reception.

Kept meaning to to get it fixed but never did, so 3 years or so down the line I threw the TV out dp you know I dont miss it.

When I watch it around a friends house I cant beleive how involed they become with the plots of silly soaps, it all seem so unreal I cringe at the thought that I too must have been like that.

Another plus is that I know read more which is far more sitmulating.

Anyone else?

I've found that radio (the BBC site allows you to listen to all the radio shows on the internet) is much more fun.

I would be quite happy to pay the license fee just for the radio stations and the website.

As I have never owned a TV, and I am not living in Britain at the moment, I have paid about a years worth of license in my life, so I have done very well out of the BBC!

>>>Arrest Development (RIP),

How depressing is that? That was by far the best program currently on tv (because Sopranos is off right now). AD should be moved to HBO or something, too edgy for a broadcast network.

Ya, the TIVO thing and HD is fantastic and gives ME the power of a network programmer.

Example of excellent tv..... last night... Cream from Royal Albert Hall on PBS ... in HD and widescreen!
Clapton is god!

I don't have a problem with watching sitcoms, movies, ect., my problem is paying for cable/satellite to get them. You only end up watching 6 or 7 channels and pay for 80. Those 6 or 7 channels end up having nothing on anyway most of the time. On top of this, you get get 30 minutes of commercials for every 2 hours you sit in front of the television.

Netflix, new movies with better sound and quality that you watch at your convenience with no commercials. Anything good that comes on TV will eventually be on DVD sooner or later anyway. Hi-Def dvd's will be out soon also so the need for Hi-Def TV is also unnecessary.

Shoutcast (and others), sure you have to sometimes wait in a queue, but they have channels running 24x7 simpsons, family guy, penn and teller, great documentaries, and more, all without any commercials.

Beyond that, there are enough vidoe clip websites with clips from tv and news shows that if anything interesting actually happens on tv, you won't miss it anyway.

The downside is, even though I don't watch cable, my wife has to have her soaps and my kid has to have his cartoon channels.
