Does anyone know how to remove an entry from the autocomplete list in the Internet Explorer address bar. A few days ago I entered a typo for webmasterworld where I missed out the "L". Now every time I start to enter [web...] ... the first sutocomplete suggestion is the one with the typo.

So how do I delete items from the autocomplete list because this is one of these seemingly insignificant things that really annoys ne.

Cheers NAB. I actually knew this and I clear my history on a regular basis because it can cause problems if you don't, but I thought I had already tried it. (Must have been having another senior moment.)

On a related note, to clear out forms and passwords go...
Tools -> Internet Options -> Content -> AutoComplete

Gimme a break! (You know I didn't even notice I had done that and I consider myself to be a good speller?)

It would however appear that I am not alone in doing this, being one of another 434,000 :)

When it comes up in a form field - highlight it with the arrows keys, then press the delete button.

This does not work with autocomplete in IE. Its actual a PITA because when you clear history it deletes all the listed entries, even those you may have wanted to keep. Why don't they allow you to delete one entry, or do they?

The ultimate shame for a Brit - having a spelling mistake corrected by an ... by an .... by an American!

Yes, it does:

[support.microsoft.com...]

"To clear individual items from the list of form or password suggestions, click the item in the list of suggestions for that field and then press DELETE."

But I think I was confused about what you were asking - you want an individual item from your history deleted I think - you just need to delete that entry from your History toolbar - more info here:

As far as I can see neither of these works. It works for forms but not on autocomplete on the address bar. Perhaps you are misunderstanding me. Lets say I type in the IE address bar ...

[w...]

As soon as I type the final "w" the autocomplete suggestion list drops down with a list of suggestions starting with "w". I can find no way of deleting just one of these suggestions. As far as I can see you can only delete them all.
