All of those are real examples (some names changed to protect the guilty). All of them are misleading. Not one of them provides you the promised goods when you enter, click, or register.

My point is that I am getting increasingly annoyed with this. They are promising that by 'clicking', 'entering', or 'registering' that you will win and yet you don't. And nobody seems concerned about this? There are no lawsuits (not even in the states?)...

Anyway I posted it here partly because all those examples I listed are from websites and were probably put their by webmasters :)

Sorry, I seem not to have made myself clear. My gripe is with the misuse of the word win, not with whether there is at least one winner or not.

The word win only applies to the winner... that's why it should always be written "click here to have a chance to win" or "if you would like a chance to win..." (note chance to being offered, not winning itself). Maybe I've been working too long today :)
