I figure a lot of us are probably SciFi fans So what memorable ones do you guys like

I guess I can start off

Star Wars
Forbidin Planet
Them
The Day The Earth Stood Still
Metropolis

There was one I liked Where they built a space ship to jump to a new world (astroid or something) it was going to swing too close to the earth and suck all the oxygen out or something. and only a select few people were able to fit on it.

I just recently saw "Jason X" (Friday the 13th, part 10) and thought it was a really good SciFi movie. Call me crazy...

You're crazy, that was a terrible movie ;)

Event Horizon gets my vote.

I Love them all. Never get enough. I even liked Plan 9 simply because is WAS so bad, and showed how such a great actor could come crashing down. The classics and Star Wars, we'll leave alone, those stand on their own. :-)

Memorable favorites that I can think of, in this order:

Enemy Mine - My all-time favorite scifi, this awesome movie is highly underrated with lots of good twists and turns on an old story
Dune, which is a most excellent adaptation of the original. (I hear there's a Children of Dune on the horizon? Woohoo! :D )
The remake of Invaders from Mars (the schoolteacher was horrific)
The remake of Mars Attacks, more for its comic elements than scifi ("Well, two out of three ain't that bad.")
The original Robinson Crusoe on Mars
The original Forbidden Planet (60's machoism is kinda fun to watch. :-) )
Total Recall ("Consider 'dat a divorce")
All of the Terminators
Independence Day ("I gotta git me one a' THESE!")

Today "Battlestar Galactica" was rerunning on TV.

Hilarious.

At first I thought this was the "A-Team" in space or something because of the guy who plays "Lt. Starbuck". Until I realized the walking piece of metal was a "Cylon warrior" and not B.A. Baracus.

Hey, had forgotten about this film - haven't seen it for years!. Indeed, very underatted; and a superb performance by Louis Gossett Jnr in particular (just looked it up on imdb - didn't realise it was directed by Wolfgang 'Das Boot' Petersen!).

seems I am this character:

Galadriel

Possessing a rare combination of wisdom and humility, while serenely dominating your environment you selflessly use your powers to care for others.

Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.

Galadriel is a character in the Middle-Earth universe.

Heck, I was hoping for Yoda!

Is The Sixth Sense science fiction? If so, then that's at the top of my list (with The Matrix).

philip k dick all the way: bladerunner

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe:
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion;
I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate.
All those moments ... will be lost ... in time ... like tears in rain.

I thought Silent Running was an excellent film, but someone somewhere should make a decent film (not the dumbed down rubbish that was on the scifi channel a few months ago) of Philip Jose Farmer's Riverworld series and posibly the World of Tiers books as well.

BTW My Scif Fi Character is James T Kirk, I feel quite honoured, but strangely troubled. I want to bodly go, but I can't help feeling that someone has gone before.

"The Matrix" -- but, don't get me started on the sequels. ::seethes::

Is "The Seventh Sign" a scifi film?

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" was a good (but not great) film. Obviously, the book is superior.

That's all that I can think of right now.
