During yesterdays German National Holiday, recently knighted Sir Tim Berners-Lee (the inventor of the WWW) got honoured with the "Quadriga [rat-fuer-deutschland.de]" award.

die quadriga is bestowed every year on 3rd October in Berlin to four personalities of the political, economic, social and cultural life, who point the way to the future for enlightenment, regeneration and pioneering spirit through their commitment.

The price comes along with 25.000 EUR. The word "Quadriga" refers to the sculpture showing 4 horses pulling a chariot on top of the Brandeburg Gate.
