Just read in the paper here that people are angery aboult the pink visitor's locker room for the Iowa Hawkeyes and people are wanting the university to repaint it a differnt color because it demeens women and encourages offincive steriotypes aboult women and homosecuality.

Just wondering what other people might think aboult this. I personal feelings are it's a stupid thing to complain aboult and they can have it any color (Although please don't make it beige or white)

I hate it when people feel the need to be politically correct on all matters. Why does it matter what color the locker room is... Why would someone even care, and why would they take the time to say anything about it. Asking for it to be repainted seems like a waste of time to me.

I live in a 1950's, brick built 'buildings' in central London. Eight blocks of eight flats, two flats per landing - very characterful in my opinion (lots of glazed bricks once upon a time, no lifts; you get the idea...).

Last year, as part of ongoing renovation and refurbishment, the local authorities decided to redecorate the communal stairwells & landings of these lovely buildings. Two colour scheme options were given to residents - blue or pink. My block was painted pink - prostitute pink!

I think this all comes down to "research" on the psychological effect of colour on mood. I recall reading years ago that certain areas in prisons were being painted in shades of green - green allegedly having a calming effect.

Interestingly, whilst the colour scheme is absolutely at odds with the post-war style, even after a year there is little or no graffiti to be found on any of the pink paintwork!

Sounds like some people have too much time on their hands.

Painting the visitors locker room pink is a great idea in terms of making them passive. They should take it one step further and pipe in the even-numbered Symphonies by Beethoven, too.

I have a pink work shirt and the amount comments that I receive is incredible - if the comments didnt come from people I know and work with youd take them as insulting.

Ive never known a colour to elicite such negative response when worn by males.
