Just heard on TV news that Don Adams (Agent 86 on Get Smart) just died. The Cone of Silence was one of my favorite skits. :(

"I asked you not to tell me that!"

Shame he didn't make it to 86 years.

Smart: "I'm calling Control, Operator..."
Operator: "You have dialed incorrectly. Give me your name and address and your dime will be refunded."
Smart: "Operator, I'm calling from my shoe!"
Operator: "What is the number of your shoe?"
Smart: "It's an unlisted shoe, Operator!"

I told my shoes.
We then observed a time of sad silence ...
And watched our "Get Smart" videos until we felt better.

I remember that line from my childhood way back in the late 60's. Man that slayed me..... unlisted shoe.

I thought he had the coolest apartment and I had a crush on 99.

Good script writers. Actors well fit for roles. Simpler times.

I loved that show too. I don't realy remebered it that well I was very yong at the time and most of the jokes flew over my head. I rember an episode with a bottle of poisoned wine or something and evryone coming in and out of the appartment and I think something aboult a mummy or a museum. And I did love that shoe.

He also played a grocery store manager in a short lived (3 years) comedy on Canadian television called Check It Out. It wasn't that great but did yield some success. However, Agent 86 is what he'll be remembered for.

And yes, I too had a thing for 99... mmmmm... I guess I still do... and which guy didn't :)
