I enjoy a conspiracist yarn as much as the next web publisher, but honestly... humans in the future will go back in time and construct a hollow moon to enable human life to develop on Earth?

a) How do they sell these books (to their publishers never mind their readers)?

b) Am I in the wrong business?

I wonder what would happen if they forgot to go back?

How will they become "future humans" if they haven't evolved in the first place?

Oh, I love time-travel-paradoxes!

The authors of this book have a theory of the time-stream being in a moebius strip.

Honestly, how does this stuff get into print?

More worryingly is why do people buy it? And who are they?

They are the people who need to know that they have to build the moon. Good thing this book was written/published or no one would have known they have to go back in time and build the moon so they can be born to buy/read the book to know to go back ...

They are also the people who buy supermarket tabloids to learn where to visit Elvis and where/how to get abducted for kinky alien sex ...

They are also the people who have believe in a conspiracy of post count robbers lurking at WebmasterWorld ...

So we need protection from the Flying Spaghetthi Monster?

It reminds me of a stupid american movie made in the 80s
about "giant killer tomatoes". A crazy story about giant tomatoes - created by a mad scientist - tired of being crushed into tomato paste and killing humans. They even made the "return of the giant killer tomatoes"!

You are not referring to the cult movie "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes"?

That movie ROCKS! Tomatoes get defeated by the song "Puberty love"....

I'll remember the plot if I run out of ideas for content.. I could even do a series on the plot :)
