Does anyone have a proven formula for calculating maximum warehouse capacity.

What is the best method of calculation: units or value?
How do you forecast future capacity holding in line with growth? We are in a very fluctuating industry and our warehouse capacity and throughput cannot cope with current unexpected growth, however we need to understand how to create the best formulae for the current situation and future growth?
