I'd replaced the batteries, took a screwdriver to it and cleared out the cat / dog hairs / bit's of junk you get on your mousemat, but no luck. Time for a new PC.
......and then I noticed, the IR reciever box thing for the keyboard and mouse was round the back of the monitor.
What a ****.
With the IR box thing out from the back of the monitor life is good and I can point and click again, phew.
Probably due to too much beer, but I'm happy, and thought I'd share :P - so go on who else whats to share their (stooopid) helpdesk moments?

How could I have been so totally stupid? Of course a fault with the line is nothing to do with UKT because I pay another company for the ADSL. How naiive of me to think that UKT should be responsible for a problem with the line which they own, goes between my house, and their exchange, and runs on their data network.
Luckily for me, going through an slow and expensive helpdesk system with the ADSL company led to... my phone ringing. Blimey! It was "UKT"... "Your ADSL company has told us you have a problem with your line....". Now cor blimey wasn't that what I told you two days ago?
