I head a department of 3 graphic designers and techwriters, not including myself.
I'm responsible for all internet activities, excluding hardware (but I have a huge influence on that), including connectivity.
I'm responsible for the design and the content of our various websites and RSS feeds, as well as for "being found", inclduing online advertising.
I'm responsible for all offline materials as well, mainly brochures, collaterals and presentations.
I'm responsible for animations and videos.
I'm responsible for the CONTENT of print advertising, yet NOT for the managing/booking of print advertising.
I host technical and sales trainings worldwide.
I'm the liaison between technical department and sales department.
I'm responsible for all tradeshow activities: booking, planning, outfitting etc.
I am NOT responsible for press releases, press liaison and print articles, yet I proofread them and have influence on them.
What makes me all of this?
But "overworked" does sound familiar, as well as "underpaid". Unfortunately, current economics are quite in favour of employers, and not quite in favour of employees, especially if you they have family.
And since my private webpage generates approx. 1.50$ revenue / month in AdSense, quitting is not an option either.
The good part is that I enjoy my work and the nice toys... erm .... products we deal with. So I guess I stick with it for a little longer. Probably I should mention that I'm with the company since 1993.
