Sorry for not giving the usual 24 hrs warning, my daughter is here from London, with her boyfriend and I have been catching up with them for a day or two...

So here is the gizmo:

What is this? [javea24hrs.com]
Please post an image link and state it's use.

Putting family ahead of the GQ ... whatever is the world coming to ...

Q1: is the hole for an electric wire?

Q2: when used is it in pairs or alone?

I believe the hole is for a cable.
This is used alone to perform it's task.

Actually, she helped me choose the gizmo ;)

Did your daughter's BF build it in shop class?

LOL, No, iamlost, he is actually a young sculptor. Very talented, but not with this gizmo nor the gizmo it helps make (actually, various gizmos, but all of the same type).
My daughter saw one of these gizmos when she was much younger, which is why she suggested it!

Can it's operating temperature be controlled?

Yes, grandpa, although probably just for fine adjustment or for 'natural' variations in material being worked.

No, most definitely not.

Q2: Does another component slip over the shaft?

The gizmo (any variation) made with this gizmo will most certainly improve the personal environment and the greater environment! The resulting gizmo does create changes in the air which are enjoyed by just about every soul on the earth. Including many animals.
can it be used to smash cockroaches?

Well, it could be used to smash cockroaches, but I am sure there are more effective cockroach smashers around:)Shotguns, handgrenades, etc.

I guess it's time for a clue.
Previous versions of this gizmo where 'powered' by hot coals ;)
They have been around for quite a few years, in one form or another.

The tube appears to be solid. Is the tube hollow and open at the top? Something goes inside the tube?

The tube is not hollow, per se. There is something inside the tube, part of the gizmo;)

In use there is no need (these days) to open the tube.

It is used to perform a task, albeit probably used continuously to repeat the task ;)

Is the rotary switch in the front a timer or a setting?

Does this has to do with warming a part of a clothing, or dehumidifying, or descenting?

A sock/boot/shoe/glove warmer/dryer/"de-scenter"?

Does the center vertical shaft, rotate?

Does the center vertical shaft intended to create ions?

Does the device transmit or collect some sort of a radio frequency signal?

Is the rotary switch in the front a timer or a setting?

Probably just to switch it on, but may provide 'strength' adjustment.

Does this has to do with warming a part of a clothing, or dehumidifying, or descenting?

To do with warming, normally a moistened item, not clothing.

A sock/boot/shoe/glove warmer/dryer/"de-scenter"?

No... ;)
Does the center vertical shaft, rotate?

No rotation.
Does the center vertical shaft intended to create ions?

No ions.
Does the device transmit or collect some sort of a radio frequency signal?

No RF.

Is it used to make a "crafty" type of object?

That's a crafty question.
I'd say it is used in the making of an arty type of object. Many of which are highly crafted ;)
The object created is used, as opposed to looked at!

Another hint please? The breakfast place is going to think my to-go order was a prank!

LOL, a clue wood help, huh? Thought I'd string you along a little.
