Groomsmen Gifts

Down to the wire with no gift ideas... Suggestions?

Being the procrastinator I am, I'm down to the wire and scrambling to get some groomsmen gifts. The trouble is, every guy is different and I really cannot see how or why they'd ever want or use the normal stuff... leathermen tools? Most of them got that last year at a friends wedding. Flasks, cigar stuff, golf stuff... all doesn't apply. Half of them don't have their own place, so that rules out some of those cool customized signs or posters.

So, I'm looking to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $35-50 for each guy. Any suggestions on a different gift that most any guy would enjoy?

While I'm sure I would use it, and two of the other 6 guys would... The others don't own their computers! It's really tough, and easily the most diverse crowd I could have ever come up with!

Do something that fits their personality, or your relationship with them.

I gave my guys knives. Here in the South, we believe no man can have too many weapons. ;-)

Seriously though, I picked out cool pocketknives. I looked several of them over, and found ones that fit each man's personality or part of their life.

Like this Kershaw:
[theknifeconnection.com...]

or this Gerber:
[gerberstore.com...]

Inexpensive, and each had it's own unique style which I matched to each of my groomsmen.

I gave each knife with a sharpening set, which included clamps and various stones.

I did all of this on the theme "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another."

Each of these men has sharpened me, so this was a symbolic and meaningful gift to give and receive.

Do something that fits, and it will be remembered.

Very clever with the knives.

A friend of mine wrapped each groomsman's gift with a section of the newspaper that was most fitting for each of us. 15 years later I dont remember the gift, but I remember the thought put into to choosing the wrapping paper and the laughter and jokes that went along with opening them. It was classic and timeless.

Really do like the knife idea.
