Anyone's finished reading the latest Harry Potter?

Pre-ordered it on Amazon, received it first thing Saturday Morning, been reading it as much as I could for the past three days, and finally finished it a couple of hours ago.

So what did you think? - no spoiler please

I enjoyed it thoughrouly althouth I felt that there was less 'action' than in the others. Don't get me wrong the last chapters include the 'perilous tasks', the duelling wizzards, and the death of a 'significant' character, but it seem to have revolved a bit more toward the feelings of the main characters and the way they felt toward each others.

Was this the calm before the storm? Or simply the last pieces of the puzzle that needed to be put down before the final journey? Final pieces which incidently created as many questions as they gave answers.

Haaaaaaaaaa, I can't wait for the 7th book.

Haven't read much, having to "fight" my husband for it. He's ahead by a chapter --- temporarily. ;)

I was one of those people standing in line last Friday night so I could get my hands on a copy shortly after midnight. Early Saturday morning, bleary-eyed from reading for 5 hours, I wasn't quite sure about the book. After some rest and a reread Saturday evening, I feel like it's one of Rowling's better efforts.

It is more character driven and the relationships are much friendlier, and more open. Even Draco Malfoy is given some traits in this one that might earn him a little sympathy.

I think we've been hoodwinked by the author though. Everything isn't as it seems.

Mine's still in the mail - for some reason we have the UK version for the other books in the series so I ordered it from there instead of locally. When I got the Order of the Phoenix I was somewhat disappointed at first as it started so slowly, but once I'd got over the initial ten chapters it was as engaging as the others. I've got high hopes for the Half-Blood Prince!

yep definitly agree with you - reminded me a bit of my youth and the teenage fun we had at school ;)

I'll have to re-read it, especially the end / death of the significant character, to make sure I take everything in (engleesh eez not my first lang'age - as Phlegm would say :)), but only the 7th book will tell us if you're right - although I did feel that the HBP wasn't the bad guys pictured at the end.

I stopped at the third one. Mainly because I don't have time. When I read i like to read all the way through without stopping. I have stayed up till 4 in the morning because I kept being like one more chapter.

I liked it. I kept having to remind myself that Harry was 16 in it though. She wrote it as though he were 16 but my brain still thinks that he is 11 so I kept saying, "isn't he a bit young for that?" and then remembering that "no, he isn't"

She is really following the traditional Hero story arch with this series. I wonder if it will be a tragic hero or triumphant hero. Knowing her, she could go either way.

So how far beyond #7 will she go? She has said she may write a few beyond 7. I personally would like to see her expand into books based around other parts of the wizarding world. Kind of like how Terry Pratchett does with the Discworld series, where previously peripheral characters become main ones and vice versa.

On page 150 ... enjoying it so far. Some interesting new twists - I especially liked the opening chapter.

I just bought my copy yesterday and I'm on chapter 6. So far I like it ok...openings are always a bit slow though:)

I bought it, but havent had a chance to read it yet. Is it better than the last one (which read IMO like a movie script)
