A good comment on the state of the web

Watched Scary Movie 3 on DVD over the weekend. I enjoyed the bit where she's searching for lighthouses, they show a close up of the screen, you see the mouse pointer hover over a link and click . . .

. . . and the screen explodes in aflurry of pop-ups. :)

Incidentally, I don't recall recognising the SE. It looked like an old Northern Light, or possibly AV, as far as I remember. Any SE spotters out there?

I didn't see that movie, but that pop up festival looked a lot like AV. That is what killed it.

That and the famous Oct 25 switch over to "Portal". They lost sight of their core product.
