An Antivirus program should only be an Antivirus program...

I am finding it difficult to put up with antivirus programs in general. Whats really obnoxious are the countless processes various programs they want to lunch.

I am a simple man and do not possess an engineering degree nor am I mechanically inclined. Therefor anything that starts up with Windows gets moved to the common startup folder (I love Mike Lin's startup.exe).

Can anyone suggest an anti-virus program that only runs a single process?

What about this [apple.com] anti-virus program? Sounds like a simple process since 1984.

F Prot is still available as a free command line AV scanner - that's about as "no frills" as you can get..
