Im suppose im posting this to let off steam Ive just walked out on a firm that would ask for your ideas on a situation then ignore you if it didnt agree with theirs. I see from experience (having been there and done that) just where they are going to go wrong but they just wont listen.

Yes men are getting promoted over other more competent staff. This morning in a fit of frustration I walked out.

Not professional I agree, but I feel the only path open, I have never worked anywhere so horrendous.

Rant over. Thanks for listening.

oh yeah and errr gizza a job mate.

I hope that come tomorrow morning you feel the same way.

If you do - well done - good for you!

Did you feel a weight being lifted from your shoulders as/after you walked out? If so, that's a great sign that you have indeed done the right thing.

Freefall is scary. :-D But. Every cataclysmic change in life leads to something better. You will have a rough time, but it will pass, and will likely be the best thing you ever did.

I've worked in the same situation, I mean I couldn't even make them any money, the resources were so rediculously slim. Catch-22.

Yes I do feel a hell of a lot better, I noticed the diffrence when I got home.

The world had been lifted from my shoulders.

Stuff 'em!

I did that once. The last I heard was the gal I worked with, in the office of the boss, saying, "He can't do that!" (referring to me walking out). Just made me smile as I hit the door.

What a great feeling. A new job offer presented itself that afternoon.

That's what I wanted to hear. Great; the freedom is yours. At some stage you'll just have to decide what you're going to do with it.

Consider then these classic words of wisdom...

"Remember, Rodney, the world is your lobster..."*

*For the uninitiated that's from the classic British comedy "Only Fools and Horses".

I did this a couple of years ago. Best decision I ever made - forced me from banal public sector IT/design into real world expressive design campaigns. All the best of British - all it takes is determination and timing :)

Yep... I know the feeling - I've worked for a firm that sounds just like yours Essex_boy.

Took voluntary redundancy (after 18 years' service) 8 years ago and it was the best thing I ever did. I worked as a 'temp' for 6 months which gave me the chance to try different things in firms with a different working ethos.

At the end of the day just remember - they can't cut your two hands off! :-)
